Maailma karika nädalavahetused koosnevad sportlaste jaoks mitmest osast. Esmalt tuleb ametlikul treeningul näidata piisavalt head aega, et pääseda võistlema rahvuste karikaetapile.
Just rahvuste karika kaudu kvalifitseerub valdav osa sportlastest MK-põhisõitudesse. Varasemate tulemuste järgi on MK-koht kindel 12 kelgutajal, rahvuste karika kaudu lisandub täiendavalt 18 kelgutajat.
Sigulda rajal jäi 20-aastastel Emma Triin Seeril MK-kohast puudu pisut vähem kui 0,3 sekundit. Kvalifikatsioonis kaasa teinud konkurendid jäid eestlanna ette, võitjast lätlannale kaotas ta 2,7 sekundiga. Raja läbisid paremad kelgutajad umbes 42 sekundiga.
“Tegelikult start läks hästi. Ma arvan, kuni kümnenda kurvini oli kõik päris hästi. 11 tuli ka hästi välja, aga 12 läksin siis natukene liiga vara sisse. See tähendab seda, et ta tõstab mind lõpus natuke liiga kõrgele ja siis ma ei juba järgmist kurvi nii hea trajektooriga võtta,” lausus Seer.
“Ma mängisin selle küll ilusti välja – 13, 14 tulid tegelikult väga okei trajektooriga välja -, aga sinna ilmselt natuke läheb kaduma kohe. Ja siis 15, millega oli trennis probleeme, praegu tegin hästi ära. Ja viimane kurv, 16, on natuke selline lainetav liiga. Sinna ilmselt kogu mu aeg hetkel ära kadus ja sellepärast jäidki need natukene puudu, et peale saada.”
Tegelikult hinnatakse kergejõustikutaustaga neiu arengut kelgutamist tundvate inimeste hulgas väga kõrgelt. Umbes aasta jagu tõsiselt spordiga tegelenud Seer tekitab imestust ka välistreenerite seas. “Tüdrukud, kellega ta täna koos sõidab, või naised, kellega ta täna koos võistleb, on vähemalt kaheksa aastat tegelenud kelgutamisega,” võrdles isa ja treener Marek Seer.
“Emma tõepoolest alustas, kui tema vanus oli 19. Kelgutamise mõistes on see tõesti hilja. Aga areng sellevõrra on meile kõigile olnud suureks üllatuseks ja me oleme sellega rahul. Järelikult liigume õiges suunas ja praegu need kolm maailma karika etappi, mis me oleme kaasa teinud, me oleme igalt saanud punktid.”
Eesti ainus rahvusvahelisel tasemel kelgutaja läheb nüüd treenima Saksamaale Winterbergi, kus teda ootavad ees ka täiskasvanute ja U-23 vanuseklassi Euroopa meistrivõistlused.
